Find Out What Skin Types You Have and the Best Tips

It's totally normal not knowing your skin type, or what to do when it comes to acne breakouts, 

While genetics primarily determines skin type, daily activities and environmental variables can worsen skin conditions. Each skin type has distinct traits and symptoms that necessitate special care. Continue reading to learn about your skin type with the best tips. 

Dry Skin



Dry skin is has smaller pores. The location of these dry patches varies from person to person. its  A common condition that affects people of all ages, Both internal and external factors can have an impact on the skin's ability to retain hydration. 


What does it looks like: Mild scaling or flakiness in some areas of the skin ,a rough and blotchy look (sometimes it appears to be prematurely aged) a feeling of skin tightness.

Tips:

-Avoid hot water or hot showers due to it causing your skin to be even more dry and less the moisture in that temperature.

-Maximum your moisturizer by adding in serum or oil.

-Do not skip moisturizer in the am and pm.



Oily Skin



If your skin is oily, your pores will appear bigger, it will become oilier throughout the day, and you will be more likely to develop blackheads.

It produces more than enough oil so hydration isn't the issue, but blackheads and pimples usually are.

People with oily skin struggle with keeping the shine down during the day.


What does it look like: Enlarged and visible pores, Oily skin is marked by large pores and a shiny, thicker feeling complexion.


Oily skin is prone to comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) and to the varying forms of acne. With mild acne, a significant number of comedones appear on the face and frequently on the neck, shoulders, back and chest too.


Tips:

-Do not skip moisturizer , people with oily skin tend to opt out on this thinking it will cause them to make them oily.

-Using blotting paper throughout the day to remove oil.

-Do choose skin care products that are labeled “oil free” and “ noncomedogenic” 



Combination Skin




This is the time of year when you should treat your skin with multi-purpose cosmetics to help keep it hydrated without stripping away all of its natural oils.

Combination skin is, as the name suggests, skin that consists of a mix of skin types. 

Skin can be dry or normal in some areas and this is a common skin type and may require different treatment in different areas.


What does it look like: An oily T-Zone (forehead, nose and chin) and dryer cheeks indicate the so-called combination skin. Enlarged pores in this area perhaps with some impurities normal to dry cheeks.

Tips:

-Avoid products with excessive fragrance or alcohol which can irritate and dry the skin.

-Mix and match your moisturizer to be hydrating yet oil free to avoid clogging of the pores.

-Avoid harsh cleanses with acids in it.

- Do at-home treatments like Exfoliate twice a week and a hydration mask weekly to balance the skin.



Normal Skin



Normal skin which means you are not oily or dry. Pimples are rare nor are there many concerns. 

You are just right in the middle and maintaining a daily routine will keep your skin on the right track. 


What does it look like: A velvety, soft and smooth texture is a sign for a healthy and radiant skin, fine pores, good blood circulation and a uniform transparency no blemishes.


Tips:

-Wear sunscreen every day and reapply it every two hours especially when you are spending time outside.

-Continue a day and night routine with the same products consistently.

-Avoid high intake of salt and sugar to prevent breakouts.

 

Although these are the Four most common skin types, Acne is a condition that varies in severity and the best way to cure it depends on the skin type. Acne can occur in people with either dry or oily skin, therefore the condition of your skin at the time of your evaluation is all that matters.
